Frequently Asked Questions

What material do you use for 3D prints
We use PLA (polylactic acid) filament.   PLA is a biodegradable plastic that is being used increasingly in the toy industry.
You guys provide customization on your prints?

Yes, we do! We can customize the size, color, or implement debossed/embossed text on most prints. A logo may be possible, but 3D printers currently do not have the resolution for detailed logos, but a simple one may work.

Where do you ship?

We can ship to all locations in the continental United States as well as Hawaii and Alaska. We can also ship to Canada. We prefer using Postal Service since they offer the best value for light packages.  You save money, too!

How good is the quality of 3D prints?

3D print quality is generally very good, but you may still see layer lines as well as seams on the print. We do our best to show you where these exist and the degree to which they may show up. But typically they’re only visible if you look very closely. If you’re viewing it at arms length you will not see the layer lines.

What is the faint line that is visible on the print?

It is a seam which is the beginning and end of a layer line. It is present on nearly all 3D prints, depending on the design. We do our best to ensure it is not visible from the ‘business side’ of the print, but still may show up.

Do you send out samples?

Yes, we can send out samples for propsects that will order many prints.

Do you send samples of customized product before a large batch run?

Yes, we can. But the response time is limited to our business and the print demand for existing products.

What do I do if a product is defective?

Take a picture/video of it and email or text it to us. We will then determine the best way to resolve the issue. Contact us here.

If the issue is serious, we will replace it at no charge. With larger quantities of small items, we often include one or two extras just in case we miss something.

What is an artifact?

In the 3D printing world, an artifact is a small mark or protrusion that is not part of the print design, but shows up during the printing process. This rarely occurs, and typically will be very small.

Am I able to repair an item if there is an artifact?

It depends on the type of artifact,. Often a short burst of a flame can remove an artifact on a print. Click here for a video showing how it’s done.

A flame can remove the small pieces left over from support or if there is discoloration, due do stretching, it can often repair the aesthetics of the item. Click here for a video.

What do I do if a product breaks when playing with it?

Items are marked for either play, light play or display, if an item breaks, we will replace it for free and send you a free replacement and cover the shipping. The replacement will be sent when we can allocate available time to the printer to create the replacement. It may be a few days to a week before that occurs.

If I am a merchant, how do I get samples?

We will send you some samples at no charge, but we need your name and/or website of your store. We do charge a small shipping and handling fee of somewhere between $10-$15 depending on the quantity of samples.

Can you put a logo into the product?

Typically implementing a logo is quite difficult since the 3D printers do not have the resolution to capture logo detail. However, we can put a name or emboss or deboss text into an item if it is large enough.  Reach out to use here with your idea.

Can you do custom or school colors?

Yes we can!  FYI- If we do not have the correct color filament, it can take up to a week for arrival.

Do you have a minimum quantity for customized items?

Yes, we do. it depends on the quantity and size of the object. Please contact us for details.

Can you change the size of any 3D print?

Yes we can, however, there are limits to going smaller as joints or connecting pins may be too small to adequately secure articulating segments. When scaleing up an item, typically the only limitation is the print bed.  But also be aware that larger items will show more aritifacts in the print when finished.

Do you provide your 3D prints for fundraisers?

Yes we do!  We love donating our 3D prints. Just reach out and we would be happy to send you our prints at no cost. We will also cover shipping.

Why are silk 3D prints shiny?

Silk filament’s shine comes from additives like polyester or elastomers mixed into regular PLA, creating a smoother, more fluid material that self-levels and reflects light for a glossy, metallic look, unlike matte PLA. These compounds give it a reflective sheen, though it’s generally more brittle than standard PLA.
